Aberdeenshire -Scotland’s next BIG destination

The Lecht Ski centre (1hr 30 min)

In the heart of the Cairngorms National Park the ski lift ferries bikers 700ft up the side of the hill on a chairlift to let them experience the thrill of gravity as they make their way back to the bottom on purpose built trails.

The Lecht’s MTB trails have been designed by leading trail builder Peter Laing, renowned for his work at Glentress.

Kirkhill Forest (16 mins)

On offer is a purpose-built MTB fun park and pump track, with bumps, jumps, berms and challenges; plus 7 or so miles of cycle trails, and heaps of very tricky sections of unmarked single track. Kirkhill provides challenging cross country mountain biking trails, and even played host to a round of the Scottish XC Series in 2019.

Tyrebagger Forest (16 mins)

If you want more action cross the A96 there where there are loads more paths, tracks and trails to be explored in Tyrebagger Forest. And for a longer ride link these through to Elrick and Brimmond Hill.

The Glenlivet MTB Trail Centre (1 hour 25 mins)

The Glenlivet MTB Trail Centre, known as Bike Glenlivet, is the north east of Scotland’s only mountain bike trail centre. And it is a cracker!

The purpose-built trails are in the heart of the Glenlivet Estate, within the Cairngorms National Park, close to one of the highest villages in Scotland – Tomintoul.The remoteness, and height, of the Glenlivet Trails give you spectacular scenery and stunning views.

Glenlivet Red is a 22 km (14 miles) red grade route with optional (and well marked) black grade technical features.

Aboyne (50 mins)

Situated right in the heart of Royal Deeside, with fun flow trails and some of the regions longest descents interspersed with some short challenging trails. Aboyne is fast becoming Aberdeenshire’s go to destination for riders of all abilities. Easily linked by off-road cycle paths to Tarland and Cambus O May open up opportunities for big days or sightseeing epics

Scolty, Banchory (40 mins)

An enduro riders paradise containing some of Aberdeenshire’s most challenging trails featuring steep slabs with a healthy dose of roots, rocks and off camber sections.
